This paper presents a novel approach to extract the directional boundary of binary images. Firstly,structure elements of size 3×3 are divided into three classes to be discussed. Then the boundaries of binary images are extracted,which is used to analyze the link between shapes of structure elements and their results. Finally,from the images themselves,a novel method is raised which can design different structure elements quickly according to demands of boundary orientation.
